Light enters the studio through a small mullioned window. Clouds of fine oak dust settle to the ground, carrying the scent of freshly cut wood. A final brushstroke frees the sculpture from dust: the characterful FELS coffee table. Its low overall height invites all to linger and gather, providing the room with visual expansiveness and immense generosity. FELS is a graceful study of form, requiring a special measure of time and sensitivity in the production process. As in sculpture, the associative form is gradually worked out of the material. Thus, the warm noble wood presents itself in an unexpected context usually associated with stone. Each of the countless edges is individually hand-sanded.
