The Wire Lamp - Verner Panton's luminous addition to the Pantonova furniture series The table lamp Wire Large by VERPAN captivates by its extraordinary construction principle. A precise, chrome-plated metal wire base, which is manufactured without welding seams, merges into a plastic hemisphere which shields the lamp. The illuminant sits in the middle of a chrome-plated metal reflector that directs the light towards the hemisphere. Only when the light is switched on does the Wire Lamp reveal the translucence of its shade. The result is a wonderfully glare-free, soft light that gives the surroundings a high degree of comfort. The plastic hemisphere is removable, so that the lamp can be easily inserted and changed. Verner Panton was an excellent furniture designer. With the Pantonova series, which he designed and produced in 1971 for the Varna Restaurant in Århus, Denmark, he created a series of avant-garde pieces of furniture, all of which consisted of parallel wire rods and open side p
