Grow Phlox subulata Drummonds Pink (McDaniels Cushion) over a wall or stone container and enjoy a profuse and vibrant display of pink blooms which tumble effortlessly over a slowly-spreading cushion of fine green foliage. Flowering from late spring into summer, this easy-to-grow hardy perennial is a brilliant bright burst of colour to bridge the two seasons. These phlox are low maintenance and drought tolerant, enjoying a free-draining soil it’ll be very happy in a rockery or gravel garden, or spilling over a stone wall or patio container. Grow phlox plants in any fertile, moist, well drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting. Feed and water regularly, particularly during dry periods, until young phlox plants are fully established. After flowering, lightly shear the stems to encourage lots of fresh new growth.
