Cherry ‘Morello’ bears fruits that are sharply acidic when fresh but turn to a rich, deep cherry flavour when cooked. It is the best known of the cooking cherries, with dark red fruits that are extremely juicy and perfect for making jams, wine, pies and cherry brandy. A particularly hardy sour cherry, ‘Morello’ grows well in northern parts of the UK and produces an excellent crop from late July on wards. This variety is self-fertile which means it doesn’t require a pollination partner to produce the best yields and is therefore ideal for anyone that doesn’t have space for two trees in their garden.
