Very good condition. The dust jacket (currently in a protective transparent sleeve) has minor signs of shelf wear including rubbing to the folds, some creasing to the tops and bottom of the folds and the spine, a small tear at the top of the spine (0.5cm) and some fading to the spine. Interestingly, the inside of the jacket is actually the cover for another book called "The Harness of Death" by W. Stanley Sykes - perhaps an example of wartime economy to re-use an existing jacket. The orange clothbound hardback cover has black lettering to the spine and is in very good condition with only minor creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. There is some foxing to the text block edges and the first few and last few pages of the text. However, the text is clean, the binding is secure and there are otherwise no significant marks or damage.
