The fabric of the Kangri jacket is thicker than that of the lightest shell jackets, enhancing its service life. The three-layer shell jacket is a durable choice for the hard-working hiker, even all year round: in summer it handles the work of a raincoat and in other seasons, with the help of suitable base and mid layers, serves as a general use shell. You'll typically wear long sleeve base and/or mid layers with this type of jacket, but when you use it to fend off a sudden summer rain shower, you can also don it on top of a tee shirt - the inner material is somewhat more comfortable than in the most ascetic models out there.
