The PH 3½2½ Glass Table Lamp was designed in 1928. It is one of many progressive projects Poul Henningsen developed alongside his famous three-shade system from 1926. Henningsen dedicated much of his life to mastering electric light. His three-shade design is based on a lituus curve, allowing the light source to be used with maximum efficiency. Throughout his work, he conducted continuous calculations and experimentsthe shape of each shade was determined by how it should direct and reflect light. For Henningsen, glare-free illumination was essential. The first PH table lamp was completed in early 1927 and introduced as an alternative to low-hanging pendant lights. The white opal glass shade gives the lamp a soft, elegant appearance while illuminating its surroundings with perfectly balanced, glare-free lighta quality only the three-shade system can provide.
