Some periodontopathies are considered the periodontal manifestation of systemic diseases, e.g. so-called desquamative gingivitis, primary herpetic gingivostomatitis, hormonally mediated changes like "pregnancy gingivitis", and some others related to metabolic disturbances, e.g. diabetes mellitus.
