Monkey 47 is produced by Black Forest Distillers in memory of a man called Commander Collins who lived in Berlin at the end of the Second World War and sponsored an egret monkey called Max who lived in the Berlin Zoo. The handpicked plant ingredients of which a third come from the Black Forest are what give the gin its unrivalled complexity and quality. The chief attraction however is the use of fresh cranberries as a Black Forestsecret weapon. The quality of all ingredients is fully brought to bear through masterly distillation and maturing in traditional earthenware containers. This complex spirit has a sweet flowery aroma with a hint of peppery spices and subtle bitter fruit notes of cranberries making it an ideal base for both classic and more eccentric cocktails.
