NMF is made up of components, such as urea and sodium pyrrolidine carboxylate (Sodium PCA), that keep the outer layer of the skin protected and well-hydrated. In dry skin affected by eczema, there are lower levels of tural Moisturising Factor (NMF) which means the skin is more prone to cracks which lets in irritants and aggravates the skin.
