Tasting Notes Organically grown by the Hirsch family on their 500-year-old farmstead high in the exceptional Kamptal a quick 45-minute skip from Vienna, this crisp juicy Grüner Veltliner will waltz you off your feet. Simply wunderbar as a delicious aperitif with or without lederhosen. The Harvey Nichols Grüner Veltliner is produced by Johannes Hirsch and his pioneering family from the village of Kammern. The Hirsch family championed the steep slopes that others didnt want to work and now command some of the regions most revered sites. In the midst of the red wine boom, they chose to concentrate solely on the Grüner Veltliner and Riesling for which the region has since become world-renowned. And they were early adopters of organic and biodynamic farming methods. Grapes were handpicked from the best-terraced sites where the large difference between day and night temperatures promotes slow ripening and results in a huge depth of flavour while maintaining the refreshing acidity.
