The carbide coating provides added durability to the surface of the drum and will not tear loose like other ordinary sanding bands. This means the accessory can last up to 30 times longer than the Dremel 408 sanding drum. Additionally, the carbide grit enables it to be used like a hole saw for plunge cutting into materials like wood, plastics, laminates and ceramics. The drum is most effective when the edge is flat against the work piece. To find the optimal speed, start slowly and gradually increase speed in order to avoid excessive heat. Let the tool do the work with reduced speed and apply little to no pressure in order to maximize accessory life.
