From the mid-1950s two series of passenger train carriages were developed through the conversion of regional railway compartment carriages at the German Federal Railways, which are referred to as refurbished carriages. Unlike the prototype the PIKO models of the three-axle converted wagon does not fall back on existing parts. The wagons are completely new constructions. Full-scale vehicles reproduce the original in the smallest detail. Individually set handle bars just as belong to the contemporary design as flush closing, crystal clear windows and a detailed interior fittings. The affectionate design continues at the back of the wagon. It satisfies among other things by free-standing cables and a filigree brake linkage. Like the prototype, the N-conversion coach also appears as short-coupled pairs in trade and possess a close-to-prototype distance between the wagons.
