A brand-new shell garment looks amazing in the rain: the surface fabrics treatment makes water bead up so effectively that during a short shower the water doesnt even reach the actual membrane. With use and washing, however, the treatment inevitably wears away little by little. You can see this easily when it starts to rain: the outer fabric begins to absorb water, which reduces breathability and feels unpleasant even though the water doesnt actually seep through. Restoring the treatment at home is easyall you need is Nikwax TX-Direct Spray-On.  Suitable for all waterproof and breathable garments.
