The book is genuinely offensive on myriad levels - racial stereotypes, comic book violence, gruesome depictions, and much more. Do not purchase if you are easily offended! On the other hand, if you can appreciate that times have changed dramatically in 175 years, then 'Struwwelpeter' is an interesting and worthwhile examination of the less-than-kind and not-so-gentle approach to child-rearing in 1845 Europe.
