What does AAKG stand for? AAKG stands for Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate. What is the difference between l-arginine and alpha-ketoglutarate? L arginine is simply another name for the amino acid, arginine, which is a semi-essential amino acid. This means that it is not just found in foods, but also produced by the human bodyin this case from glutamine via citrulline. The body uses arginine to produce biochemicals, enzymes and proteins. AAKG, on the other hand, is a salt of the amino acid arginine and alpha-ketoglutarate, which have been bonded together. The two are often coupled and offered in nutritional supplements such as pre-workouts. Many forms of arginine have been produced in order to improve effectiveness and absorption. Our AAKG is different to many 1:1 forms on the market as it offers AAKG with a ratio of 2:1.
