The classic String shelf, big sister to the Pocket shelf, was designed by Nisse and Kajsa Strinning in 1949 and was produced after winning first prize in a library competition organized by Bonniers folkbibliotek. The Pocket version of the String shelf was designed by Swedish architect Nisse Strinning in 2005\.
