Mud cloth, also known as 'Bògòlanfini' is a handmade Malian cotton fabric. It is one of Africa's most unusual and distinctive textiles. Preserving cultural crafting techniques, our artisans spend hours upon hours weaving and painting Malian cotton with native fermented mud. The complex process is beyond impressive, as they even use mashed and boiled N'gallama tree leaves for that lovely yellow hue. The mud itself is collected from riverbeds, and takes an entire year to prepare. Often our artisans decide to finish their work by removing some of the N'gallama tree dye, rendering it white. ##### WHO MADE YOUR MUD CLOTH?
