The peshtemal is a traditional piece of cloth that has many uses. It can be worn as a scarf or wrap, used as a throw on the back of a sofa or is particularly useful as a lightweight towel. I always take a peshtemal on a summer holiday where it is the perfect towel - it dries quickly takes up very little space or weight in a travel bag and can be used to separate worn laundry and clean for the journey back home and can also be worn around the waist. These peshtemals are traditionally loomed and the fringing is all finished by hand. We advise that they are washed before use - they are machine washable at 30 degrees and we recommend air drying instead of tumble drying.
