The Megamat mat uses Exped's well-known and trusted Synmat technology. In practice, this means the mat contains technical fiber that prevents air from circulating inside the matresulting in excellent insulation as it holds the body-warmed air in place. Since its release, the Megamat has been unmatched in comfort, but its weight has been significant. Before the launch of this Ultra version, the mat was clearly intended for use where gear wasn't carried in a backpack. The Ultra, however, is becoming a serious option even for backpacking when sleeping comfort is a top priority. It's easily manageable when transported by canoe, kayak, or bicycle.
