Adam and Barbara Maitland die in a car accident which leaves them in the afterlife only to haunt the house which was once their home. When the Deetz family move in to the beloved home, they hatch a plan to scare them away in order to have their home back. With multiple failed attempts they call upon Beetlejuice, a bizarre ghost who is brought in to help scare the Deetz family away.
