A collection of short stories from Evelyn Waugh. Uniform edition. At the outbreak of the war in September 1939 he sought military employment. He also began a novel, in a new style using first-person narration. Work on this project ceased when in December Waugh was commissioned into the Royal Marines and began training at Chatham naval base. The novel was never completed; fragments were eventually published under the title Work Suspended and as limited edition of 500 copies released in 1942. This later public release including Mr Loveday's Little Outing, Winner Takes All, Excursion in Reality and others. A hardback in good condition. Dust jacket shows significant wear with chipping and tanning to spine, as illustrated. Blue cloth boards in good condition. Pages in good condition. spine cocked.
