Using 64 original watercolour paintings this book takes the reader on an illustrated journey through the historic streets and parkland of Windsor. From the Copper Horse statue in the Great Park we travel down the famous Long Walk, past the Georgian, Regency and Victorian terraces towards the High Street and its attractive Guildhall. Into Castle Hill we view the Henry VIII gate, the Round Tower, and the old market area before continuing past three impressive castle towers and on down Thames Street towards Home Park and the River Thames. Each painting is accompanied by as small copy of the original drawing labelled to show the main features and buildings of interest together with notes on their history. As a further guide, maps of the area indicate viewpoints from which the drawings were made. Some drawings include the ceremonial Guards and band who regularly march to and from the castle for the Changing of the Guard ceremony.
