The Sean Michael Protz of the present retires from the military and journeys to Missoula Montana to meet with the attorney representing his great grandfather's will. In order to qualify as a recipient of his great grandfather's estate he has to become a true Westerner, learning to shoot and ride in the old ways. The tale is sequenced back and forth between 100 years ago and the present, with a touch of romance, as the main characters are thrust into the cauldron of adversity during actual historical events.
