His thoughts on, and arrangements of, masonic ritual procedure and symbolism represented a major contribution to the practice of Freemasonry. He lived at a tme when Freemasonry was regarded with suspicion by society. He was initiated in1763 so by his death in 1818 had been involved in the organisation for over half a century. The author was an international authority on English masonic ritual and in particularly the development of Craft Rituals. He is an experienced writer and, though this is a very specialist work, exhaustive in its detail, writes in a lively style. This copy £45
