This metallic copper was in trend in 1967. It was something like the forerunner of the Flowerpower years in the car industry's paint selection. And with the NSU Ro 80, the gloss of the brilliant metallic paint is mixed in a suitable way for the Neckarsulmer Wankel sedan: Noble and full value with the simultaneous nuance of the rounded body line. 18 years old the NSU Ro 80 was once at Wiking only under the model number "12r", later under "128" a permanent racer. It comes as no surprise to anyone that, to date, significantly more NSU Ro 80 had "gone off the line" at Wiking than at Neckarsulm, where production of the original had been discontinued after 37,402 units in 1977. The "Wankelmotor" project was put on the file at the time, and the name NSU disappeared from the Audi delivery program. The Ro 80 was voted Europe's "Car of the Year" in 1968, the year after its series launch, precisely because of its shape, the many safety elements and the innovative technology. Today, the saloon is
