The aircraft in this book form the basis of the Alpine Fighter Collection that Sir Tim Wallis created at Skyshow Centre, Wanaka Airport, South Island, New Zealand. The collection consisted primarily of ex-military fighter aircraft of the World War II era. Initiated from relatively humble beginnings in 1984, the collection, at time of writing, consisted of a wide array of aircraft from various nations that were involved in World War II 1939 - 1945. The aircraft also take part in the bi-annual Warbirds over Wanaka airshow and other special events.
