Contains insert with notes & libretto Born in Nottingham in 1941 and died in Cambridge this year, Christopher Jarvis Haley Hogwood was one of the great pioneers of the performance of the Baroque repertoire, in close symbiosis with the orchestra he founded in 1973, and which is also represented here. In the Seventies, Hogwood produced some absolutely fundamental recordings of an Author like Vivaldi whose potential was beginning to be perceived that went well beyond the pieces already well known to the public. I had the privilege of hearing him live, in 1997, in a church in Milan that I don't remember whether it was San Simpliciano or San Vincenzo in Prato, where he performed some wedding cantatas by Bach.
