Vintage silver-plated sauce boat by E.H. Parkin & Co. of Sheffield. Mid-1970s. Marked "E H P" to the base, together with the firm's trademark lady's head in profile (known as the "Cameo"). Dimensions about 20 cm long x 10 cm wide x 6 cm high (10 cm high including the handle). Very Good Plus condition. No marks, dents, scratches or other damage. Edward Hugh Parkin (1893-1963) was born in Sheffield, the son of Edward Oswald Parkin and his wife, Elizabeth Jane. Edward began work as a silver warehouseman and apprentice at Cornwall Works of R. Richardson. After army service in France during the First World War, in 1919 Parkin started his own business in Brookhill. In 1932, after Richardson ceased trading, Parkin occupied Cornwall Works. E. H. Parkin & Co specialised in electro-plate and silver holloware. The factory produced military components during the Second World War, after which Edwards sons, Alan Hugh and John Edward, succeeded him. In 1977 the name of the firm changed toParkin
