Vintage hand-painted porcelain jardinière by Vista Alegre, Portugal. Probably about 1920. Scarce. Clearly marked to the base for Vista Alegre, Portugal's pre-eminent porcelain manufacturer. Probably dating to the first quarter of the 20th century. Rectangular in form, with canted corners and large D-handles with foliate terminals and the bowl exterior decorated with hand painted bouquets of flowers and richly gilded. See photographs. The jardiniere is Very Good (minus) condition, with just some rubbing to the gilding of the handles and the upper rim. No cracks, chips or crazing. The flower-painting is in excellent condition.
