This is a pretty heart shaped vintage 1950s powder compact from Kigu of London. On the lid of the Kigu powder compact is a beautiful petit point insert of colourful flowers in a gilt leaf engraved frame. The reverse of the Kigu powder compact has a very nice engine turned pattern resembling woven fabric, enhacing the overall effect of the compact. On opening the Kigu powder compact you will find a clear round mirror to the inside of the lid. Above the mirror the word 'CHERIE' in script is engraved with PATENTED underneath. Below the mirror, near the hinge, the words 'MADE IN ENGLAND' are also engraved. In the base, the inner powder guard has an engine turned pattern engraved into it with the KIGU emblem at the centre. The inner powder guard is surrounded by a sunburst pattern radiating towards the circumference of the heart shape.
