Urakasumi Sake Brewery
Tasting Notes Urakasumi create some of our most popular sakes but nothing prepared us for the quality of their premium Umeshu. Umeshu is a Japanese liqueur made by steeping ume plums in sugar and alcohol. Urakasumi use a base of Junmai sake as the alcohol component which creates an Umeshu with umami depth a clean finish and real finesse. Wonderfully sweet this luxurious liqueur displays notes of plum cherry almond marzipan amaretto cranberry cinnamon and brown sugar but all that sweetness is kept perfectly in check by a refreshing twist of tart lemon and yuzu acidity. Sip this nectar over ice with desserts sorbets dark chocolate cherry liqueurs red berries or spicy food; or topped up with soda tonic water (garnished with pink grapefruit) or Prosecco on a summers day. If you can bring yourself to do so with something so exquisite it also makes a wonderful base for marinades in barbeque season.
