The designer ceiling lamp Melt Surface by Tom Dixon was designed in collaboration with the designers of the Swedish design collective Front. The designer team Front experiments with materials and technologies, such as vacuum metallization, in order to create special designs and achieve surprising visual effects. With the ceiling lamp Melt Surface, the successful experimentation is impressively demonstrated, because while the unusually shaped shade made of polycarbonate looks off almost like metal designed with a shiny surface, the effect is a special spectacle when switched on, because now the surface looks translucent, almost like blown glass.
