Beat Fat - handmade brass pendant lamp Beat Fat is a pendant lamp by the designer Tom Dixon, which was made of solid brass sheet. Model for the design of this beautifully shaped pendant lamp, which is characterized by an expressive minimalism, were the traditional water containers in which people in India carry their water from the well home. In India, the pendant lamps of the Beat Fat series are also manufactured. In 2004, Tom Dixon was involved in an initiative in Jaipur to create alternative livelihoods for the dwindling artisans there. It was here that the Beat project was born. Using traditional brass work, the lampshades in the Beat series are made from sheet brass, with the insides beaten by hand. Up to four days are needed to complete a lampshade.
