An attractive and useful addition to the garden, you can enjoy a flurry of pink blossom from mid spring, later followed by a heavy crop. From mid-summer to early autumn, Strawberry ‘Florian’ produces juicy red fruits that are perfect for adding to summer fruit salads. Ideal for growing both indoors or under glass, but as fruit is available from runners as well as the main plant, it is best grown in hanging baskets in a sunny position.Sow strawberry seeds from January to April at 15-21C (59-68F) on the surface of a good quality seed compost. Do not cover the seed. Keep the soil damp but not wet and do not exclude light as this helps germination. Place in a propagator or seal the seed tray inside a polythene bag until after germination, which usually takes 14-21 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors.When strawberry plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise
