Grow these stunning, almost black Poppy blooms in your garden! Poppy 'Black Peony' boasts lovely large, fully double flowers of the darkest purple possible. The deliciously dark blooms have lovely, crinkled petals, which only add to their allure! Easy to grow, Poppy 'Black Peony' is brilliant in borders where it can be left to self-seed and naturalise. Culinary note: all poppies are poisonous. However the seeds produced from Papaver somniferum and Papaver paeoniflorum can be eaten and are used for adding extra flavour, crunch and bite to breads and cakes. The seeds of other poppy species are not edible. Height: 90cm. Spread: 30cm.Sow from March to May outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sow 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Germination usually takes approximately 21 days.
