Nasturtium 'Banana Split' boasts superb garden performance in T&M’s trials and gorgeous looks! This eye-catching Nasturtium produces masses of glorious golden flowers, complemented by lush green foliage. Culinary note: the peppery flavour of the leaves and colourful flowers will enrich salads and the unripe seeds can used like capers - delicious combined with cream cheese or butter in canapés. Sow March to May. Sow outdoors where they are to flower. Sow seed, 20mm (3/4in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart in well-cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially in dry periods. Germination usually takes 7-12 days. Can also be sown in pots or trays of moist seed compost. Cover seed with a sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Keep at between 15-20ºC (59-68ºF). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination.
