This lovely Lupin flowers in the first year, with blooms in two complementary shades for masses of sensational summer colour. 'Avalune Mixed' produces masses of short bi-colour flower spikes on low bushy plants throughout summer. This delightfully dwarf Lupin has a more compact habit than perennial varieties, so is ideal for growing at the front of borders or in patio containers. This quick growing annual blooms in just 12 weeks after sowing, making it perfect for drift planting - simply sow the seeds direct where you want them to grow. Sow Lupin seeds from March to May on the surface of a good quality, free draining compost and lightly cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place the seed tray in a propagator at a temperature of 18-25C (64-77F) or seal inside a clear polythene bag until the first seedlings show, which usually takes 18-21 days.
