Tree Lily ‘Debby’ is a striking variety producing fiery orange-red blooms in summer which throw out a wonderful heady fragrance. This hardy perennial bulb returns for a repeat performance every year. A cross between a trumpet and Oriental lily (Orienpet), this hybrid towers up to 2m tall by the second or third year. Once mature it can produce up to 30 blooms, perfect if you enjoy creating homemade bouquets. Over the years the bulb can produce sufficient stems to create a bushy, shrub-like habit. Perfect for the back of a border. Oriental lilies prefer a moist, free draining, neutral to acid soil that is rich in organic matter. Prior to planting, add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil to give your lilies the best start. When growing lilies in containers, use a loam based compost such as John Innes No.2. Lily bulbs should be planted at a depth of approximately 3 times their own height and 15cm (6") apart.
