Iris Picasso produces rich purple blooms with heavily veined bright gold falls that rise from clumps of strap like foliage. The upright stems of this iris create a majestic display in late spring and early summer. This variety is perfect for adding an exotic splash of colour to sunny borders and containers or make the perfect masterpiece as a cut flower. Height: 50cm (20”). Spread: 20cm (10”). Plant Dutch Iris bulbs in autumn, at a depth of approximately twice their own height and 10cm (4”) apart. Choose a position in full sun on any free draining soil. To create a natural effect, cast the bulbs across the area and plant them where they land. Alternatively, plant bulbs in deep containers of loam based compost such as John Innes No. 2. When growing Dutch Iris, allow their foliage to die back naturally before removing it in order to feed the bulb for the following spring.
