Commonly known as a Cape Jasmine, this stunning indoor plant is great for positioning in a sunny spot as a focal point so its beauty and fragrance can be fully appreciated. Gardenias are not the easiest house plants to grow, and are often discarded after flowering. However, they are well worth making an extra effort for! Gardenias require careful placement to thrive. Choose a brightly lit position, but not in the direct glare of the sun, with a constant temperature above 16C (60F). Avoid positions close to cold draughts and radiators. Water freely between spring and autumn using tepid rainwater where possible, and allowing the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering but do not allow the
