With large, rounded, colourful leaves, Hosta’s are particularly hard to miss! Hosta ‘Frances Williams’ produces vibrant blue-green leaves, surrounded by sunny yellow edges, which add texture and colour to even the shadiest corners of the garden. Forming dense clumps of foliage, this hardy perennial is a great choice for ground cover, making a useful and attractive feature for borders and patio containers. Grow Hosta plants in sun or dappled shade, on rich, moist, well-drained soil. Plants can grow well in a sunny border but will need to be kept reliably moist. Plants may perform better on slightly acid soils. Before planting, work some fresh compost or general fertiliser into the top 20cm of the soil. Alternatively, plant Hosta’s in patio containers in soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
