Helleborus orientails 'Double Ellen Pink' is a perennial that flowers February to April, this will then die back below ground level each year in the autumn and fresh new growth will appear in spring. Helleborus orientails should be planted In partial shade, with its large outward facing flowers and upright stems appearing above the glossy dark green foliage, making this perennial a great plant for winter themed containers. Grow hellebores in neutral or alkaline soil, in dappled shade. Hellebores prefer a moist, humus rich, fertile soil that does not dry out in summer or sit waterlogged in winter. When growing hellebores on heavy clay or free draining gravel soils, add plenty of well rotted leaf mould or other organic matter to the soil prior to planting. Mulch hellebore plants with well rotted manure or garden compost each spring. Hellebores resent disturbance after planting and may take some time to re-establish.
