Grow your own ornamental gourds from seed! This half-hardy annual boasts wonderful small ornamental fruits of creamy-white to green and yellow stripes. Each fruit is uniquely shaped, resembling a little crown. Ideal for walls and fences and ground cover. Soak seeds 2 hours in warm water before sowing. Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 20-30°C (70-85F). Sowing Depth: 6mm (0.25in). Sowing Time: March-April. Germination usually takes 7-21 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, harden off and plant out when all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12in) apart, in full sun.
