If you have a few seed to spare, Hordeum also makes an attractive ornamental grass when planted in perennial borders.Grow Cat Grass all year round, in the greenhouse or on a sunny windowsill. Sow on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost and lightly cover the seed with vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal the seed tray inside a polythene bag, maintaining a temperature of 18-24C (65-75F) until after germination which usually takes 14-21 days.
