Black Eyed Susan ‘Salmon Shades’ is a summer flowering half hardy annual which will produce eye-catching flowers from July onwards. Popular for its climbing habit and beautiful terracotta flowers which appear in muted shades of pink, orange, cream and apricot. Once established these plants will happily cover a garden obelisk or trellis and thrive all summer long. Sow Thunbergia seed from February to April on the surface of seed compost, and cover with 6mm layer of compost of vermiculite. Place in a propagator at a temperature of 20-25C (68-77F) or seal the seed tray inside a polythene bag until after germination, which usually takes 14- 21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3”) pots and grow on in cooler conditions.
