The long upright dark green leaves curl over attractively, followed by new growth all the time. It will also tolerate low light levels and copes well with drought conditions and pollution. It was popular with the Victorians for this very reason. Aspidistra likes to be kept in warm room, with average temperature of 15-24°C, but is able to tolerate much cooler temperatures, down to 8°C.
