Grow your own fabulous cascading flowers, ideal for adding dramatic colour to your hanging baskets, containers and window boxes. The vibrant cerise-purple antirrhinum-like flowers of Asarina purpusii 'Victoria Falls' are clasped in lime-green bracts, cascade from delicately arching stems. This half-hardy perennial will flower from early May until cut back by frost. Sow from early February to mid-April in a good seed compost just covering the seed with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite. Germination takes 14-21 days at 20-24C (70-75F). Seal in a polythene bag after sowing and don't exclude light. When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions. When well rooted, plant into baskets or container, using a good soil-less compost with some Sow-Lite (vermiculite) added.
