The vibrant cerise-purple antirrhinum-like flowers of Asarina purpusii 'Victoria Falls' are clasped in lime-green bracts, cascade from delicately arching stems. This half-hardy perennial will flower from early May until cut back by frost. Sow from early February to mid-April in a good seed compost just covering the seed with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite. Germination takes 14-21 days at 20-24C (70-75F). Seal in a polythene bag after sowing and don't exclude light. When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions.
