An edition and translation of thirteen acrostic hymns from a manuscript in the Sahidic dialect of Coptic which were written for the Monastery of the Archangel St. Michael at Hamouli in the Fayyum. The stanzas of each hymn begin with each letter of the Greek alphabet in turn and are in praise of the Virgin, the apostles, a number of saints and some are dedicated to the ressurection, the ascension and baptism, perhaps used at the relevant seasons of the year. This edition has a translation, Coptic text, lengthy introduction and notes.
