Signed by author. Since 1957 Lea MacNally has been studying the magnificent golden eagle in the remote Highlands of Scotland. Season after season he has made the long trek into the Monadliaths to watch four pairs. Their breeding success has been precarious, and the tables which the author has drawn up show how necessary it is to protect the species if it is to continue to exist. The author records the week by week development of the eaglets from hatching to fledging at 10 weeks old, the feeding habits and the variety of prey found at the nest, the aggressive tactics of one particular female eagle, and the skill and beauty of the eagles as they patrol their territories. A winner of three national photographic competitions the author has documented his visits to the eagle glens with splendid black & white and colour photographs which evoke the majestic power of these birds of prey.
